PAGCOR facility to serve more Maynilad customers in the South

A new Maynilad pumping station and reservoir located inside PAGCOR city in Parañaque will soon bring more water to the southwest portion of Metro Manila as the company finishes pipe-laying activities in the area.

The P680-million PAGCOR Pumping Station and Reservoir (PPSR) is designed to provide around 300 million liters per day (MLD) of potable water to customers in Parañaque, Las Piñas, Cavite City and the five municipalities of Cavite Province.

“Initially, it will benefit our 64,629 existing customers in Cavite and Las Piñas. However, once the primary line pipe-laying along Aguinaldo Highway and Tirona Road are completed, it will allow us to expand our services to around 166,295 households more,” said Water Network head Ronald Padua.

The beneficiary area, Padua added, is currently being supplied by Maynilad’s Pasay Pumping Station. “With the increasing demand in the current influence area, we have to replace this with higher capacity booster pumps and reservoir. The PAGCOR facility will allow us to deliver more water to existing customers living in elevated portions and to those living in the farthest extremities of Cavite and Las Piñas.”

The PPSR is equipped with a reservoir that can store up to 23 million liters, and a pump station that can generate up to 330MLD, which is sufficient to meet the 100MLD additional water supply requirement of its influence area.

The facility complements other Maynilad projects in the south, such as the state-of-the-art Putatan Water Treatment Plant in Muntinlupa City, which will provide water supply to the lower southeast of Metro Manila.

“Along with the upgrading of our Pasay Pumping Station and construction of our new Villamor Pumping Station, this PAGCOR facility will augment the volume of water that will flow through mainlines along Aguinaldo Highway, Alabang-Zapote Road, and other areas in the south,” Padua said.

Maynilad serves the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Hi-way), Caloocan, Pasay, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; Cavite City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
