Maynilad’s Quality Head receives global award

Engr. Francisco Arellano, head of Maynilad’s Corporate Quality, Environment, Safety and Health Division, was recently awarded the Global Award for Outstanding Contribution to Quality and Leadership during the World Quality Congress and Awards held in Mumbai, India.

The award recognizes individuals and organizations for excellence in quality management, leadership, business process improvement, and benchmarking of quality processes. Arellano is among nine Quality Leaders awarded during the ceremony and is the sole awardee from the Philippines.

With almost 40 years of experience, Arellano—the first APEC and ASEAN-licensed Filipino chemical engineer—has led programs and projects aimed at ensuring the delivery of safe water not only within Maynilad’s West Zone concession area but also throughout the Philippines.

Under his leadership, Maynilad has gained and maintained 93 ISO certifications, ensuring that it operates in compliance with global standards for quality, environment and occupational health and safety standards. Maynilad also became the first company in the Philippines to receive the ISO 14064:2006 certification for the verification of its greenhouse gas or carbon footprint quantification and reporting initiative.
