Maynilad’s Plant for Life kicks off on July 3

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) will kick off on July 3, 2015 its yearly tree-planting activity “Plant for Life” at the Ipo Dam Watershed in Norzagaray, Bulacan.

The “Plant for Life” program is part of Maynilad’s efforts to rehabilitate and reforest the Ipo Watershed, which will help prevent calamities such as land erosion, flooding and drought due to El Niño.

“With El Niño threatening our water supply, countermeasures such as tree-planting activities are essential to protect vital watersheds that supply the water we provide our customers,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.

To date, Maynilad has planted almost 405,800 saplings in the area. The company aims to plant 50,000 more saplings this year to cover an additional land area of approximately 40 hectares, using indigenous trees like narra, cupang, antipolo, acacia and cacao.

Volunteers and volunteer groups from private and public sectors are welcome to participate in Maynilad’s series of “Plant for Life” tree-planting activities this year. Interested parties may call 981-3333 and ask for the Environmental Management Department to inquire about the schedule and requirements.
