Maynilad’s Lingkod Eskwela Program reaches 143K students in 2016

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) installed 52 drink-wash stations in 46 public schools this year through its Lingkod Eskwela Program, benefiting some 143,000 elementary, high school and college students.

Lingkod Eskwela is Maynilad’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) program that aims to promote good health through proper hygiene among students through the installation of drink-wash facilities and refurbishment of water and sanitation facilities in public schools.

Since the program’s inception in 2008, about 604,000 students in 295 schools all over the West Zone have already benefited from improved water access and better sanitation facilities.

One of the most recent recipients of six new Lingkod Eskwela drink-wash stations is the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa, Manila, which has over 14,000 high school and college students.

“Having access to potable water is important so that schools will remain conducive for learning. Through our Lingkod Eskwela Program, we strive to give our youth the environment they need to reach their full potential,” Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez said.

Maynilad’s Lingkod Eskwela is done in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) to support the agency’s WinS (Water and Sanitation in Schools) Program, which aims to capacitate schools in enforcing correct hygiene and sanitation practices to its students.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon, all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor, and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
