Maynilad to start sewer network project along Dr. A. Santos Ave. in Parañaque; motorists advised to expect moderate-to-heavy traffic

Motorists passing through Dr. A. Santos Ave. (Sucat Road) in Parañaque City will experience moderate-to-heavy traffic beginning April 11, 2016, as Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) implements its sewer network project in the area.

Maynilad will install sewer pipes—with diameter sizes ranging from 350mm to 1,350mm—along the west-bound side (Baclaran-bound) of Dr. A. Santos Ave., from the corner of Soreena Ave. (Shopwise) to the corner of C.P. Garcia Extension (SM Sucat).

During this period, one of the three west-bound lanes along Dr. A. Santos Ave. will be closed to traffic. However, two lanes will be closed at night when traffic volume is lightest.

To minimize traffic and public inconvenience, additional traffic enforcers will be deployed to the site. One lane on the east-bound side will also be made available for counter-flow traffic when needed. Meanwhile, U-turn slots will be used when a section of the work requires temporary closure of an intersection.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.

Maynilad is closely coordinating with Paranaque City’s Traffic Management Office to manage traffic flow along the project area.

To help ensure public safety, work sites will be fully enclosed by board-up barricades, with appropriate lighting and traffic/warning signs. Motorists and pedestrians passing through the area are also reminded to strictly observe traffic rules and road safety regulations.

The Sewer Network Project of Maynilad in Parañaque involves the laying of 77 kilometers of sewer lines that will convey wastewater generated by households to the company’s Parañaque Sewage Treatment Plant. This ensures the proper collection and treatment of harmful effluents, thus protecting community health and the environment.

Once completed in the third quarter of 2017, the project will benefit some 470,000 people in nine barangays and 95 subdivisions. Funded by the Development Bank of the Philippines and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Parañaque Sewer Network Project is part of Maynilad’s program to expedite the provision of sewerage and sanitation services in Metro Manila.
