Maynilad to provide free water service for COVID-19 treatment centers at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, PICC and WTC

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is providing free water supply for the three quarantine facilities that are being set up by the government for COVID-19 patients.
The COVID-19 treatment centers—located at the World Trade Center (WTC), Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), and Rizal Memorial Sports Complex—will have an estimated bed capacity of around 1,000, thus boosting government’s ability to isolate and give proper medical treatment for the increasing number of COVID-19 patients. Maynilad is donating the water requirements of these facilities for the entire duration of its operations as quarantine centers.
“Maynilad is at one with national efforts to curb the spread of this deadly virus. By covering for the water consumption of these COVID-19 treatment centers, we hope to help ease the burden of government in running these facilities and ultimately contribute to the goal of flattening the curve,” Maynilad said.
Besides this initiative, Maynilad is also extending other relief assistance, including the provision of water supply for select DPWH disinfection stations along major roads, and the distribution of drinking water for the consumption of COVID-19 frontliners who remain on duty to provide essential services during the enhanced community quarantine.
The conversion of these three locations into COVID-19 facilities is intended to help decongest hospitals that are already at full capacity. The project is spearheaded by the Department of Health, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, and the Bases Conversion Development Authority headed by Secretary Vince Dizon, who is also the Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects.
