Maynilad to Plant 130K Trees in 2017

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez  plants a narra sapling at the Ipo watershed during the recent launch of the “Annual Million Trees Challenge” of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS). The West Zone concessionaire committed to plant 130,000 trees this year in support of the MWSS initiative, which seeks to reforest six vital watersheds, namely: Umiray, Ipo, Angat, La Mesa, Marikina River and Laguna Lake. Maynilad is tapping employee-volunteers to plant indigenous trees—such as narra, cupang, kawayan, camachile and bangkal—at the Ipo watershed and around the vicinity of the seven tributary rivers of Laguna Lake. Reforesting these areas will help to improve raw water quality and prevent calamities such as flooding brought on by soil erosion. Maynilad is one of thirteen partners from the private and government sectors tapped by the MWSS for its “Annual Million Trees Challenge”.
