Maynilad to operate first large-scale membrane filtration plant in the Philippines

Maynilad, the water service concessionaire for the West Zone of the greater Manila area, will soon operate a water treatment plant in Muntinlupa that will have the first large-scale membrane filtration technology in the Philippines. The low maintenance, energy-efficient water treatment system will begin producing safe, affordable and reliable water by 2010, and will benefit approximately 105,000 households in the said area.

According Maynilad President Rogelio L. Singson, the plant can produce 100 million liters per day (Mld.) of water. The plant also has the capacity to expand its water production for additional demand.

Maynilad currently serves 6.4 million of the 8.9 million people in the West Zone. With the company’s aggressive service improvement and water supply development projects, it hopes to provide more households with 24-hour coverage at 7 pounds per square inch (psi).

Pall, the global leader in the rapidly growing field of filtration, separation and purification, will be Maynilad’s water treatment technology provider for the Muntinlupa project.
