Maynilad to acquire 12 sanitation trucks

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is spending more than 100 million pesos to acquire 12 vacuum truck units that will help increase its septage collection for the next five years.

In 2013, Maynilad was able to clean more than 30,000 septic tanks and treat nearly 70 million liters of septage.  The water company is set to spend more than 8 billion pesos in 2014 to increase its wastewater treatment and sewerage coverage.

“The purchase of these trucks will help Maynilad accomplish its five year target of cleaning more than 200,000 accounts. We are also appealing to our customers to have their septic tanks desludged because not doing so will result in serious environmental, health, and safety risks to their family and community,” Maynilad President and CEO Victorico P. Vargas said.

Maynilad’s wastewater infrastructure network currently includes 14 sewerage treatment plants, 19 pump stations, 12 lift stations and more than 500 kilometres of sewer lines.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the concessionaire of the MWSS for the West Zone of the GreaterManila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
