West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is spending P166 million to lay some 7.4 kilometers of primary and secondary pipelines in various portions of Caloocan City and Valenzuela City.The pipe laying projects will affect areas around Bagbaguin Road, ITC Compound Road, Malinis St., P. Faustino St., Velilia St. and Ibaba Bignay Road.
The projects are scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2014. Once energized, the new pipes will enable Maynilad to increase water availability for the 2,700 households in the affected areas, from the current 11 hours to 24 hours.
“We are committed to investing in projects that will deliver improved services to our customers. This project will enable us to provide round the clock water service to our customers when this project is completed,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
To manage traffic flow in the project areas, Maynilad is closely coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the local governments of Valenzuela and Caloocan. For the safety of the public, the work sites will be barricaded and installed with appropriate lighting and traffic/warning signs. Motorists and pedestrians passing through the sites are also reminded to strictly observe traffic rules and road safety regulations.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta.Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabonall in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor, and Imus, the towns of Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
