Maynilad project to improve water supply in Sampaloc, Sta. Mesa

Starting October, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) will undertake a total pipe replacement project in Balik-balik, Sampaloc, Manila to reduce water losses and improve water supply and pressure in the area. The project involves the replacement of 46 kilometers of old and leaky pipes from Barangay 522 to Barangay 586 in Sampaloc and Sta. Mesa, Manila. More than 11,550 commercial and residential customers will benefit from the project. The project will be completed by January 2011, and is expected to generate 4,100 jobs. The total pipe replacement project will affect the streets of España, N. Ramires, R. Magsaysay, Batanes, Pardo de Tavera, Antipolo, and Algeciras/PNR (Philippine National Railways). Heavy traffic may be expected along the streets of G. Tuazon, Blumentritt, and Matimyas in Sampaloc during construction. To lessen inconvenience for motorists, Maynilad is closely coordinating with the local government units of the said areas. The company will provide traffic signs, and implement temporary restoration work after pipe-laying to manage traffic flow. Permanent restoration will commence after hydrotesting.

Maynilad is the water and wastewater services provider for the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Hi-way), Caloocan, Pasay, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; Cavite City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
