Maynilad posts 10 million safe man hours in facilities

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently achieved nearly10 million Man Hour No Loss Time Accident (MHNLTA) in all of its facilities and business areas.  The outstanding safety achievement is a testimony to Maynilad’s uncompromising commitment to stringent health, safety, and environment standards and practices.

Three of its 14 ISO-certified facilities particularly, Dagat-dagatan Sewage and Septage Treatment Plant, Tondo-Asuncion Sewage Pumping Plant, and La Mesa Treatment Plant clocked in almost 2 million combined man-hours on the facilities without any incident or Loss time Injury (LTI).

“We take occupational safety and health very seriously. This is an exceptional achievement for Maynilad and our safety-first culture,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.

Maynilad’s Safety Department also ensures that its contractors adhere to the same safety standards which it has set. This requires sound technical and management skills as well as building relationships with the local community that it serves. This is especially significant as works are continually being executed in constrained residential areas, open trenches and main roads with heavy movement of vehicles.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the concessionaire of the MWSS for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
