Maynilad P13B CAPEX investments improve water service in West Zone

Maynilad customers now experience improved water supply and pressure with the company’s completion of several infrastructure projects in the West Zone.

Since taking over Maynilad in 2007, the consortium of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and DMCI Holdings Inc. has spent P13 billion to rehabilitate old pipelines and upgrade water facilities in their concession area. Some 92,000 additional households have been connected to Maynilad’s distribution network as a result of these investments.

In 2007, Maynilad completed a number of major projects such as the 800-mm pipeline in Binondo, the LMAQ-3 pipeline in Sampaloc, Manila, the 1,200-mm extension pipe and 600-mm pipeline along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, and the 800-mm pipeline along Sucat Road, Parañaque City.

Last year, Maynilad installed the 4.4-kilometer line from Singalong St. to P. Ocampo Ave. to Roxas Blvd. Service Road towards Pasay; the 1,000-meter lines along General Tirona Highway in Kawit, Cavite; and the 3,472-meter lines along Magdiwang St. from San Juan St. to Noveleta Reservoir, and along Tirona Highway in Kawit, Cavite.

Maynilad’s modernization and expansion plans continue in 2009 with the laying of some 422 kilometers of new pipes in various areas, as well as the construction and rehabilitation of new pumping stations and reservoirs throughout the West Zone.

With its sustained operational improvements, Maynilad expects to further boost its water service levels and coverage in the entire West Zone.
