Maynilad, Navotas LGU partner for the poor

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) and Navotas mayor John Rey Tiangco recently inaugurated a project that gave water service connections to the poor community along R10 at Sitio Puting Bato, Navotas City.

The said community is under the Buklod at Pag Asa ng Pamayanan ng Navotas (BPPN), a non-profit organization that aims to provide informal settlers with decent housing and basic necessities such as safe drinking water.

Navotas provided the funding, permits and right-of-ways to facilitate the project’s completion, which now provides 200 families with 24-hour water supply at a pressure of at least 7 psi (pounds per square inch).

Prior to this inauguration, Maynilad also launched similar projects for other poor communities in Navotas, such as the Fishport Compound Neighborhood Association and Nagkakaisang Pamayanan ng Sitio Sto. Niño Puting Bato Neighborhood Association Inc.

Present during the inauguration were (from left) NBBS barangay chairman Elvis Ayuda, Navotas councilors Boy Vicencio and Eddie Manio, Maynilad VP for Business Area Operations Christopher Lichauco, BPPN President Presicila Aviles, Navotas mayor John Rey Tiangco, Navotas councilor Clint Geronimo, and Maynilad South Caloocan Business Area Head Roel Espiritu.
