At the height of the devastation brought by typhoon Ondoy, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) took extra measures to ensure the quality of the water being delivered to the West Zone.
Aside from lowering water production to manage the high turbidity of the water during the storm, chlorine dose was also increased to meet any additional demand for disinfectant residual in the pipelines that were submerged during typhoon Ondoy. Maynilad’s team of Water Quality Inspectors also conducted continuous monitoring of its booster pumps and distribution network to ensure the quality of the water coming out of customers’ tap.
The company also maintained constant communication with their customers during Ondoy’s onslaught.
“As early as Saturday afternoon, we have been advising our customers through our friends in the media that if customers have reservations with the water coming out of their tap, they should boil their water for 3 minutes before drinking as an additional precautionary measure. We also advised our customers to call our Maynilad Hotline 1626 if they suspected water contamination in their area, so we can send our representatives to test the water.†said Cherubim Ocampo, Head of the Corporate Affairs and Public Relations Department of Maynilad.
Maynilad assures its customers that despite the challenges posed by inclement weather or natural disasters, it is committed to delivering clean, potable water that meets the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
