A Maynilad worker is shown plugging a leak on a primary line along 4th Avenue in Caloocan City. The water company has been sustaining its pipe repairs and other network maintenance activities during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), enabling it to repair 244 old and leaky pipes in different locations within its West Zone concession during the period. The Maynilad workers are required to practice social distancing and other precautionary measures to protect themselves from COVID-19 infection, even as they work to ensure that households receive the steady water supply they need to maintain good hygiene and sanitation. To date, Maynilad has already repaired over 370,000 leaks since 2008 when it first launched its Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Management Program.
