West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) made it to the finals of Bentley Systems, Inc.’s (Bentley) 2021 Going Digital in Infrastructure Awards, a global competition that recognizes outstanding use of technology in advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations. Maynilad is the sole finalist from the Philippines.
Maynilad’s entry under the competition’s “Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Networks†category demonstrated the innovative and effective use of Bentley’s hydraulic modeling software to optimize pump operations, which led to improved water pressure for 58,800 customers in the south while generating 13% savings in power consumption.
This Maynilad project is one of only 57 finalists chosen from nearly 300 nominations submitted by more than 230 organizations from 45 countries. Winners will be announced during the “Year in Infrastructure†virtual conference, a global gathering of leading executives in infrastructure project design, engineering, construction, and operations.
It was in 2013 when Maynilad last won a top prize in Bentley’s Be Inspired Awards with its “Remote Leak Detection through Hydraulic Modeling Projectâ€, which bested 40 entries from around the world and was the sole winner from the Philippines.
The 2021 Going Digital in Infrastructure Awards is organized by Bentley, an engineering software company that provides innovative software to advance the world’s infrastructure, sustaining both the global economy and environment.
