From January to October this year, West Zone concessionaire Maynila Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) provided free sewer connections to ove 900 households and establishments located along waterways that drai into the Pasig River.
The average cost of a 10-meter sewerage connection is P60,000, whic covers the cost for all permits, labor and materials, as well a restoration. Maynilad decided to shoulder the sewer service connectio cost for the more than 900 customers to help reduce wastewater discharg to the waterways leading to Pasig River and Manila Bay.
Meanwhile, for the same period, Maynilad provided free septic tan cleaning services to nearly 53,000 accounts from North Caloocan down t Cavite. Around 61,000 cubic meters of wastewater were collected an treated by the company since the start of the year. For the last quarte of 2010, Maynilad will be focusing its desludging services in th southern part of its concession, particularly in Putatan, Muntinlupa an in Kawit, Imus, Rosario, Bacoor and Noveleta, Cavite Province.
Maynilad is the private water and wastewater services provider for th West Zone which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions o San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, Wes Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part startin from the Districts of the Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills), Makati (wes of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon—all in Metro Manila; Cavit City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario—all in Cavite Province.
