Maynilad gives hygiene supplies to 112 schools for DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela 2022

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) donated pandemic essentials to 112 public schools within its service area, in support of the Brigada Eskwela 2022 program of the Department of Education (DepEd).

The water company turned over 810 bottles of liquid soap, 12,400 washable facemasks, 5,300 pieces of bottled water, and wash buckets to 14 School Division Offices for the use of school personnel and indigent students when campuses open on August 22.

Aside from these donations, Maynilad is also installing at least 40 modular handwashing stations in several schools to reinforce the habit of proper handwashing among students. Furthermore, the company is conducting W.A.S.H. (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) training sessions online, reaching some 5,144 educators to date.

During the kickoff of DepEd’s Oplan Balik Eskwela Command Conference last August 15, Maynilad also vowed to intensify water quality testing in sampling points within school vicinities. The company will also ensure that its excavations near schools are safe and passable for pedestrians and motorists, and that requests for septic tank siphoning will be prioritized.

“Maynilad aims to make the transition from distance learning to in-person classes smooth and safe for our children by providing items that are essential for Covid19 prevention and equipping our educators with W.A.S.H. training,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
