To show its support for the apostolic visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines, West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is deploying 11 water tankers, setting up 15 water stations, and donating almost 90,000 units of bottled water.
The Maynilad tankers—with a combined capacity of 94,000 liters—will be stationed around the main thoroughfares leading to the Rizal Park to provide water for those attending the Holy Mass on January 18. At the same time, 15 Maynilad water stations will be set up within the Rizal Park to distribute water.
About 30,000 units of bottled water and 100 five-gallon jugs were sent to Tacloban and Palo, Leyte, and some 10,000 units of bottled water were allocated for the University of Santo Tomas. Over 17,000 bottled water were donated for the use of logistics and security groups for the duration of the Pope’s visit; while thousands more were allocated for volunteers assisting in the event.
Meanwhile, Maynilad also desludged 22 septic tanks and declogged sewer lines around the Rizal Park. It will also assist in the disposal of waste from the hundreds of portalets within the park.
“Maynilad joins the nation in welcoming Pope Francis. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to offer our services to the Pope and the public during this meaningful occasion,†said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
