Maynilad expands water network

MPIC-DMCI led Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) installed nearly 275 kilometers of new pipes from January to September this year, effectively expanding its water distribution network in the West Zone to 6,295 km.

More than P2.86 billion was spent for the network expansion which benefited nearly 73,000 households in Valenzuela, Malabon, Navotas, Manila, Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, and Las Piñas.

Aside from increasing water pressure and extending water supply coverage, Maynilad’s primary and secondary pipe-laying projects also generated employment opportunities for nearly 53,000 people. In 2009, the national government cited Maynilad among the top investment contributors in the country for its water supply and distribution projects.

For the last quarter of the year, Maynilad plans to install an additional 70 km. of new pipes within its concession area.

Maynilad is the largest water concessionaire in terms of customer base in the Philippines. It provides water and wastewater services for the West Zone which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon—all in Metro Manila; Cavite City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario—all in Cavite Province.
