This development came after Maynilad completed a major pipeline project along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City.
In a dry run conducted last May 11, Maynilad energized a 4 kilometer pipe which improved water pressure in BF Homes by as much as 3 to 6 psi. (pounds per square inch). “We can also improve the availability of water supply in the subdivision from 12 to 24 hours,†Maynilad’s Water Network head Rodrigo Yabut said.
Before the completion of the major pipeline and upgrading of the Pasay Pumping Station, the Maynilad-supplied areas of BF Homes used to get an average of 5 psi. water supply during peak hours (4 a.m. to 12 noon) and 15 psi. from midnight to 4 a.m.
Maynilad invested P7.6 million to connect an initial 300 households in BF Homes to its surface water network since late 2008. The enclaves that now have potable water supply include Tirona, ACRA, BF Central, Whitegold, TEHA, Agelor, VOB (Vinzon, Olandriz and Benitez Sts.), Pilar Banzon, HARP, Uno, Tierra Maria, Parklane, MHFDS, Soriano and Mayuga.
Prior to the Maynilad’s service improvement projects in BF Homes, the subdivision’s around 72,000 residents depended on six deepwells for their water supply. However, groundwater supply steadily declined in the last two decades, which forced the residents to rely mainly on costly water deliveries.
