Maynilad connects 30k Bacoor residents

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently connected to its water distribution network Queens Row Subpision in Bacoor City, Cavite province. As a result, some 30,100 people now have access to safe and reliable surface water.

Residents from this subpision used to extract water from shallow wells or buy expensive water from delivery trucks. Over-extraction of groundwater in Metro Manila and nearby areas has been known to cause land subsidence and flooding. Various health risks have also been associated with the prolonged use of untreated water from deep wells.

“We strive to connect more areas in our concession area to our network so that people will no longer have to use groundwater, which is not a sustainable source and may have a negative environmental impact with prolonged extraction,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
