Dr. Francisco Castillo, Chief Information Officer of Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad), discussed the need to secure industrial facilities before an audience of information security practitioners, security specialists and business leaders during the recently held Computerworld Philippines: Security Summit 2016.
In his speech, Castillo talked about Maynilad’s efforts to protect and secure assets even as it works to automate industrial processes by converging Information Technology with Operations Technology.
“With the convergence of Information Technology and Operations Technology, one of the primary concerns is how to secure your industrial network. Failure to do so means intrusions into this critical infrastructure, downtime, as well as possible breach of confidential industrial processes,†Castillo said.
The annual event, hosted by leading information technology magazine Computerworld, is one of the largest independent gatherings of information security experts in the country.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
