West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently won three Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) “Secretary’s Awards of Distinction” at the 8th Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) Awards.
DOLE recognized Maynilad’s La Mesa Treatment Plant 1 and Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant under the Institutional Category. Meanwhile, the water company’s Head of Safety, Engr. Conrad Soriano, was recognized at the Individual Category.
The GKK is awarded by the DOLE, through its Occupational Safety and Health Center, to institutions and individuals for their exemplary contributions in responding to the safety and health needs of workers, workplaces, and community.

We are both humbled and honored that our continued efforts to raise the level of employee awareness on health and safety practices have been recognized by the Department of Labor and Employment,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is a concessionaire of the MWSS for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in the Cavite Province.
