Maynilad’s NRW group receives ISO certifications

The Central Non-Revenue Water (CNRW) Division of West Zone concessionaire, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad), was recently conferred three ISO certifications, bringing the company’s total number of ISO certificates to 209.

Maynilad’s CNRW Division—primarily tasked to recover water lost from the network due to physical leaks and commercial losses—passed the strict audit for three management system standards: ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) and BS OHSAS 180014 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems).

Conferred by international auditing and certification body TUV Rheinland Philippines, these ISO certifications of the CNRW Division confirm that Maynilad meets international standards in its NRW-related systems and processes, which cover pipe replacements, leak detection and repair, and meter management.

“This third-party affirmation that our NRW operations conform to global standards is a huge accomplishment—one that we intend to sustain through continuous procedural improvements for enhanced efficiencies,” said Maynilad’s President and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez, adding that average NRW level in the West Zone is at 30% as of May 2016—down from a high of 66% before Maynilad’s re-privatization in 2007.

Late last year, the company was conferred a company-wide ISO certification covering 72 offices and facilities spanning 11 divisions, making it the Philippine company with the most number of ISO certificates for multiple sites.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
