Maynilad receives int’l award for sustainability reporting

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) was recognized for its Sustainability Reporting Excellence at the 2015 Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA). The company won in two categories: “Best Stakeholder Reporting” and “Best Environmental Reporting”.

The awards were presented during the ceremony and gala dinner held recently in Singapore at Eden Hall, the residence of the British High Commissioner to Singapore. Receiving the award for Maynilad was its President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez joined by Corporate Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (CQESH) Head Francisco A. Arellano and CQESH Planning, Development, Implementation, and Certification Head Kris Catangcatang.

“We strive for transparency in disclosing our social and environmental performance. These awards from ASRA attest to our success in this endeavor, and we are very grateful for the recognition,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

The Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards—which celebrate best practices in sustainability reporting and communications—recognize and honor sustainability reporting leaders in Asia. Its inaugural year has drawn 180 entries from companies in Hong Kong, China, Japan, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Middle East, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
