Talk N’ Text, ABAP delegates join Maynilad to Walk for Water

The Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters and boxers from the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP), led by 2010 Asian Games gold medallist Rey Saludar, recently joined Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) in the Philippines Walks for Water at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA).  The event is the local counterpart of the global World Walks for Water initiative.

To raise awareness of water and sanitation needs, the athletes joined an estimated crowd of 2,000 people and carried 5 gallon containers around MOA.

Maynilad CEO, ABAP President and PBA Alternate Governor Ricky Vargas lauded their participation.  “It is heart-warming to see our Filipino athletes in this multi-sectoral event.  Everyone should take part in addressing the plight of the 16 million Filipinos who still do not have access to clean water,” said Vargas.

Maynilad, through the Millennium Development Goal Fund (MDGF) 1919, is working on a campaign that aims to enhance the sustainable delivery of clean and safe water to about 122,000 households in five regions of the Philippines.
