MAYNILAD SUPPORTS DILG CAMPAIGN FOR DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) recently signed a Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Quezon City to support the agency’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, the Buhay Ingatan, Droga Ayawan (BIDA) Program. Maynilad pledged to ensure a drug-free workplace by raising awareness on the harmful effects of dangerous substances, and sustaining its conduct of regular and random drug testing among its employees, among other initiatives. The company also committed to provide resources such as refurbished laptops and drinking fountains for DILG rehabilitation centers within the West concession area.

Maynilad’s Corporate Affairs and Communication Head, Marie Antonette H. De Ocampo (3rd from left, lower row) represented the company in the MOU signing event that was led by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos (3rd and 4th from left, upper row). Other companies—such as Meralco, Smart-PLDT, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation—also expressed support for this initiative.

BIDA Program is the national government’s holistic anti-illegal drugs campaign, which seeks to combat the spread of narcotics in the country by prioritizing rehabilitation and socio-economic development among former drug dependents.
