DAILY WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION ADVISORY STARTING MARCH 28

Maynilad has been monitoring the water level in Angat Dam, which supplies 90% of the raw water supply for the West Zone. While the elevation is still at a healthy level as of mid-March, the increased likelihood of an El Niño phenomenon taking place by the latter half of 2023 is a concerning development that calls for measures to preserve our limited water stores.

We have existing supply augmentation measures, such as the reactivation of deep wells and commissioning of modular treatment plants. But these will only mitigate the impact of a shortage that can happen if stored water in Angat Dam dips further, given the expected dry spell. The effect is already seen at Ipo Dam, where water elevation has started going down over the past few weeks.

Sufficient rains are not expected to fall over the watersheds in the succeeding months to replenish the dams. Hence, as a prudent conservation measure, Maynilad will be implementing DAILY WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS throughout the West Zone.

Below is the complete list of affected areas and their corresponding service interruption schedules.

These daily service interruptions will take full effect starting March 28, 2023 and will last depending on the actual raw water volume that our treatment plants will receive, as well as on actual rainfalls that will occur at the watersheds.

Meanwhile, we advise our customers to remember the assigned daily interruption schedule in their area, and to keep enough water stored for their needs during the hours when supply will not be available. Please keep stored water in clean, covered containers.

Upon resumption of the water service, please expect some discoloration in the supply. This is a normal consequence of service interruptions, as the returning supply scours the naturally occurring mineral deposits inside the pipelines. When this happens, let the water flow out briefly until it clears, but use the initial flow of water for non-drinking purposes, such as for flushing toilets.

We appeal to our customers for their continued patience and understanding, as we try to conserve our limited supply to last throughout the year despite an El Niño occurrence. Please monitor our Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates on the supply situation.
