SEPTAGE FROM “PROJECT KUBETA KO” TOILETS PROCESSED IN MAYNILAD FACILITY

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is now processing 150 barrels of solid waste a week from the portable, container-based toilets that were recently donated to informal settler families in Parola, Tondo, Manila, under the “Project Kubeta Ko” Movement, which seeks to prevent open defecation in Metro Manila waterways. The photo shows a Maynilad worker loading the collected septage into the Loowatt Processing Machine at one of Maynilad’s Lift Stations for conveyance to a treatment facility.

“Project Kubeta Ko” is a joint undertaking of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the city government of Manila, and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS). It supports the continuing Supreme Court Mandamus to rehabilitate and preserve the Manila Bay.
