West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has reached more than 750 high school students with its wastewater education drive, which aims to teach the youth about proper wastewater management for sustained community and environmental health.
Since it started the program in June 2016, Maynilad has conducted its Wastewater Management Education Module in 17 schools within its concession area. The module utilizes interactive learning designed to help children apply wastewater management in their own lives.
“Children can play an active role in protecting the environment by properly managing household wastewater. Through Maynilad’s school-based education campaign, we aim to help the youth learn their role so that they can grow into environment-conscious adults,†said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
Maynilad aims to conduct its wastewater education drive in 13 more schools within the year.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
