Maynilad wastewater management receives triple ISO certifications

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently secured its 105th ISO certification after its Wastewater Management Division (WMD) received ISO certifications for quality (ISO 9001:2008), environmental (ISO14001:2004), and occupational safety and health management (BS OHSAS 18001:2007).

WMD is responsible for the sewerage and sanitation services Maynilad offers to its customers. This includes the collection and treatment of wastewater that pass through sewer lines, and the cleaning of septic tanks.

“As we expand our wastewater services in the West Zone, these certifications show that we are committed to handling and treating used water from our service area in accordance with world-class standards,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.

Maynilad currently operates 14 sewage treatment plants, two septage treatment plants, and some 513 kilometers of sewer lines across the West Zone concession area.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is an agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon, all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
