Two Maynilad facilities pass IMS recertification

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) successfully passed the recertification for Integrated Management System (IMS) of two of its vital facilities, La Mesa Treatment Plants 1 and 2 in Quezon City, and Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant in Manila.

Third-party auditor TUV SUD PSB Philippines, Inc. recommended the recertification of the said facilities for another three years for the following standards: Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2004) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (BS OHSAS 18001:2007).

The international certifications prove once again Maynilad’s commitment to quality, environmental protection, and occupational safety and health.

“Passing the surveillance audit of certifying body TUV SUD goes to show that our La Mesa Treatment Plants 1 and 2 and Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant provide world-class service to our customers, in keeping with our goal to become the leading water solutions company in the country,” said Ricky P. Vargas, Maynilad President and CEO.

Maynilad’s La Mesa Treatment Plants 1 and 2 can produce about 2,640 million liters of potable water a day for its 8 million customers. Meanwhile, its Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant has a treatment capacity of 432,000 cubic meters per day of wastewater, conveyed by over 343,500 meters of sewer lines and six lift stations in Paco, Malate, Luneta, Legarda, Port Area and Sta. Cruz in Manila.

Other Maynilad facilities that have triple ISO certifications are the Dagat-Dagatan Sewage and Septage Treatment Plant, North Caloocan Business Area, and Water Network including its accompanying pipelines and seven pumping stations. Maynilad is also the first company in the Philippines to receive the ISO 14064:2006 certification for the verification of its greenhouse gas or carbon footprint quantification and reporting initiative. In all, Maynilad has 40 ISO certificates for 14 sites.
