Maynilad donation for Rotary Homes housing project

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently donated P1.82 million to the District 3830 Rotary Homes Parañaque Foundation, Inc., which seeks to construct 1,500 homes in a government-owned property for informal settlers living along the Parañaque River.

The housing project—done in partnership with the Parañaque City Government, Save the Parañaque River Foundation Inc., and Couples for Christ ANCOP—aims to provide the informal settlers with more decent living conditions, as well as to reduce pollution at the Parañaque River.

Maynilad’s donation will go into the building of the project’s first cluster of 14 housing units, to be named the “Maynilad Row.”

“We are honored to partner with Rotary Homes for a cause that seeks to preserve the environment and end the cycle of poverty. Having decent homes will be the first step toward a more progressive life for the beneficiaries,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.

Maynilad also pledged to implement pipe-laying works in the area to ensure that the new community will have access to potable water supply. “This is part of our commitment to bring reliable water supply to all areas within our concession, similar to what we have already accomplished in many other communities in Parañaque,” added Maynilad Chief Operating Officer Herbert Consunji.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base.  It is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; Cavite City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
