Maynilad intensifies handwashing campaign; donates hand-wash stations

Hand-wash station

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is intensifying its handwashing campaign through donations of hand-wash stations and soaps to several local government units (LGUs) and public schools.

The water company is installing 26 hand-wash stations across its West concession area, and 12 of these have already been installed in public markets, health centers, and city halls. Maynilad is also providing 1,170 one-liter liquid hand soaps for these stations.

“We thank Maynilad for this very timely donation. These hand-wash stations are a big help as we combat the spread of COVID-19 in our city,” said Parañaque mayor Edwin Olivarez.

Maynilad also recently donated 1,878 one-gallon bottles of liquid hand soaps and disinfectants to several schools, in support of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela 2020 program. Around 250 posters that specify proper handwashing instructions were likewise provided to the DepEd-Quezon City Schools Division Office.

These initiatives reinforce Maynilad’s month-long activities that celebrate the Global Handwashing Day. “The importance of water, health and sanitation has always been part of our advocacy as a company, and it has gained even more relevance now because of the pandemic. Through these new hand-wash stations, we hope to reinforce the habit of proper handwashing among Filipinos,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is an agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon, all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
